About CBM
The goal of the CBM is to unite researchers from the Baltic and other countries to share knowledge and scientific achievements and build a community of microbiologists and related field experts. We are looking forward to welcoming more than 100 young and experienced researchers, mainly from the Baltic States, but not only.
The scope of the Congress is microbiology and biotechnology – a quickly developing scientific disciplines that have a great impact on both the understanding of basic biological processes and research applications.
During the Congress, we will provide a platform for sharing recent results in all fields of microbiological research. Special emphasis will be placed on the participation of young researchers from different countries, to introduce them to the field of microbiology, to allow them to learn from more experienced scientists and present results of their research. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the sector in neighbouring countries, establish cooperation links and exchange experiences.
The Congress of Baltic Microbiologists started with the first meeting being held in 2012 at Riga, Latvia, and now, after 13 years, it returns to where it started.
This is going to be the 6th Congress; previous events took place in Tartu (2014), twice in Vilnius (2016 and 2023) and Gdansk (2018).
